The 50 Year Advantage!
A Simple Guide to Thinking Clearly About Money & Investing.
Perspective. Not advice.
By Todd Lutz
Welcome / The Promise
This guide WILL NOT tell you what stocks to buy.
It will not promise fast money. It will not predict the future. It will change the way you think about money. Most people fail at investing not because they are unintelligent, but because they are impatient, emotional, or reactive. This guide is designed to help you slow down, zoom out, and understand the game you’re playing. If you can think clearly for decades, the math will take care of itself.
SO LET’S GET INTO IT!
Welcome to The 50 Year Advantage!
Hi, my name is Todd
And I come with over 50 years of collective experience — and “The 50 Year Advantage” isn’t about claiming I’ve been in business for half a century.
It’s about the 50 years of collective wisdom I’ve been fortunate to gather from people who have.
Throughout my life I’ve had mentors, entrepreneurs, investors, and business owners who shared their decades of experience, wisdom, mistakes, and successes. The 50 Year Advantage is a blend of their knowledge, my own journey, and what the markets themselves have taught us over the last 50 years.
I began in sales at 14 years old running a cafeteria in junior high school. I have moved through countless sales roles, operated and expanded multiple franchises and export exclusive wines from Italy to North America.
Every chapter on this journey has taught me about people, negotiation, discipline, risk and investment.
Through all those experiences, one thing remained constant — investing behavior.
I’ve watched markets rise, fall, and rise again.
What I learned wasn’t how to predict the future — it was a method to manage emotion, create consistency, and build a life I genuinely enjoy.
The mentors who helped me didn’t give me stock tips.
They taught me perspective.
The 50 Year Advantage is passing that perspective forward. Its about building a community focused on growing like-minded individuals, like the growth my mentors instilled in me.
Some of what you’ll read here you may already know.
But if even one idea helps you think more clearly or act more patiently, it can move you meaningfully closer to financial freedom.
This isn’t about telling you what to buy. It’s about helping you understand how to think.
“Perspective. Not advice.”
What Is The Stock Market?
The stock market is simply a place where ownership of companies is bought and sold.
When you buy a stock, you are buying a small piece of a real business.
You are not buying a lottery ticket.
You are not gambling.
You are becoming an owner.
The market goes up and down daily because people are emotional. But over long periods of time, markets rise because businesses grow.
Short term = noise.
Long term = progress.
What Is An ETF?
ETF = Exchange Traded Fund Think of an ETF as a basket of companies. Instead of picking one company and hoping you’re right, an ETF allows you to own hundreds or thousands of companies at once. Benefits: • Diversification • Lower risk than single stocks • Simplicity • Lower fees • Less stress Owning an ETF is like owning the entire economy instead of betting on one horse.
Behaviour Beats Knowledge !
The biggest enemy in investing is not lack of information.
It is behaviour.
People panic when markets fall.
People get greedy when markets rise.
Both reactions are expensive.
You do not need to be the smartest person in the room.
You need to be the calmest.
Consistency beats brilliance.
Discipline beats intelligence.
Motion Vs Progress
Checking your account daily feels productive.
Reading headlines feels productive.
Talking about investing feels productive.
But none of those are progress.
Progress is:
• Regular investing
• Staying invested
• Ignoring short-term noise
• Letting time work
Motion is activity.
Progress is direction.
A Simple First Step
You do not need perfection.
You need a start.
Example approach:
• Choose a broad market ETF
• Invest a set amount monthly
• Increase contributions when income rises
• Do not stop during downturns
Small, consistent investments over decades beat large, emotional decisions made rarely.
Time is the most powerful asset you have.
Your World View!
Your “world view” is how you believe the future will unfold.
If you believe:
• Businesses will continue to grow
• Innovation will continue
• Economies will adapt
Then investing becomes logical.
If you believe everything will collapse, you will never begin.
You do not need blind optimism.
You need measured confidence in human progress.
The Next Step Is Structure
The 50 Year Advantage Course expands on these principles with:
• Step-by-step investing frameworks
• Behavioral training
• Risk perspective tools
• Long-term planning models
• Real-world scenarios
This is not about getting rich quickly.
It is about building a life where money becomes a tool — not a source of stress.
Clarity compounds. Patience multiplies. Time rewards consistency.
“Perspective, Not Advice.”
Sincerely, Todd Lutz
“Without Todd, I wouldn’t have even known where to begin with investing. He helped me understand how to look at investments and ETFs from a broader perspective—focusing on how strong funds grow consistently over time rather than worrying about short-term fluctuations. That shift in mindset made investing much clearer and far less stressful.”

“Moving to Canada in my early 20s all by myself was a huge learning curve. I was feeling very overwhelmed and lost when I learned what I needed for my future and retirement now. Fortunately Todd was able to guide me with a logical perspective to start investing and secure my future in a manageable way. ”
Ian - 30 years old
“Todd helped me understand the basics to start out investing. He helped me take away the fear of the unknown and unlock my financial curiosity. Now that I started my investments, I am able to more effectively understand how profits are made and how markets work. Thanks Todd! “
